A World Heritage Site, Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids once provided the final resting place for the pharaohs and nobles of Memphis.     Just incredible.. Smaller than the great pyramid, but no less impressive... Definitely worth a trip outside of Cairo!

    Having tea with the caretaker at the Step Pyramid of Djoser in 1982 looking towards the great pyramids in the background . There was nothing there at the time and I took a horse across the sand to get to it as there was no road. Definitely a step back in time.
