Formerly a part of the imperial palace, Kokyo Gaien National Garden spans 115 ha (285 ac), featuring a total of 12 moats and some 2,000 black pine trees, creating a striking scene with defunct old watch towers. A good place to relax in central Tokyo after a day of sightseeing and shopping, this area forms part of the city’s largest waterfront and greenery space. A central fountain, well-lit, and a carp pond offer great spots to enjoy this huge, well-maintained landscape. You can rent a bike in order to see all the park's corners, or just walk around and easily spend a couple of hours. The garden sits just a five-minute walk from Hibiya metro station.
