Klein Constantia, Constantia

#37 of 154 in Wineries in Cape Town
Visit Klein Constantia, a vineyard and winery with an enviable location and interesting history. First established here in 1685 because of the quality of the soil and the cool ocean breezes, the winery produced a naturally sweet Vin de Constance, which became popular with writers, rulers, and the aristocracy during the 18th and 19th centuries--until a wine blight devastated the vineyards. Reopened in 1986, the facility offers tours of the facilities, tastings and pairing sessions, and an onsite store where you can pick up a bottle or two to take home with you. • We rode our bikes right up to this winery in Constantia and were thrilled with how welcomed we were! Luke presented us with our wine tastings and we learned so much about the history and the process of the wine making at the Klein Constantia Estate. The wine was genuinely incredible and we had the luxury of sitting at a comfortable sofa with a bottle of their own natural spring water as we tasted the menu of wines. Nice heavy pours were definitely appreciated and we left feeling as though we were family. Great experience!
  • Beautiful and clean winery. Beautiful location right at the slopes of the mountain. We went up the mountain with a truck, to see the Vineyards. Good explanation and nice tasting.
