Sample some of the 300 edible and medicinal plants at Babylonstoren, a farm preserving Dutch traditions in South Africa. The property was established in 1777 and grew out of the gardens that supplied the Dutch East India Company with fresh water and produce. Nowadays, the garden spreads over 3.5 ha (eight ac) of fruit and vegetables, with a manor house serving as the property's nerve center. Inspect a huge array of well-labeled plants, get some gardening tips from informed guides, and enjoy a nice lunch in the shade of wild olives and oaks. The farm has free-roaming donkeys, geese, and chicken, and is child-friendly. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Paarl holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Babylonstoren and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Stunningly beautiful by all means. Walk through this beautiful (food) garden. Enjoy lovely meals at one of it’s restaurants. Great place to travel to with children. Unrivaled charm. Easy to spend an entire afternoon here.
This place is like a fairytale land. It’s peaceful and serene and so beautiful. You really can’t grasp it until you step foot on the dirt road that leads you to fruit trees, cacti, quiet streams, majestic peacocks and the most delicious farm-grown treats. It’s an experience!
