Puerto Montt

Puerto Montt ©
Though the city serves as a regional transport and commercial hub, vacations in Puerto Montt rarely focus on the city itself; instead, Southern Chile's volcanoes, glacial lakes, and national parks get most of the attention here.
Get outdoors at Valle Cochamo and Angelmo. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Reloncaví Sound and Catedral de Puerto Montt. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Puerto Montt: Iglesia Inmaculada Concepcion (in Frutillar) and Iglesia Sagrado Corazon de Jesus (in Puerto Varas). There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at Museo Antonio Felmer, get outside with Tierra Outdoors, don't miss a visit to Monte Verde, and relax in the rural setting at Granja Educativa Tierraviva.

To see more things to do, photos, ratings, and tourist information, go to the Puerto Montt trip builder tool.

Johannesburg, South Africa to Puerto Montt is an approximately 28-hour flight. The time zone difference when traveling from Johannesburg to Puerto Montt is minus 6 hours. In December, Puerto Montt is little chillier than Johannesburg - with highs of 21°C and lows of 9°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Thu) early enough to drive to Valdivia.
