Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Budapest is known for historic sites, spas, and nightlife. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: ponder the world of politics at Hungarian Parliament Building, boost your wellbeing at a local thermal spa, admire the landmark architecture of Matthias Church, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika).

To find other places to visit, where to stay, reviews, and other tourist information, you can read our Budapest trip tool.

If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In December, plan for daily highs up to 5°C, and evening lows to -1°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Fri) so you can travel back home.
