Barcelona, the country’s second-largest city, is a cosmopolitan urban center known for its throbbing youthful energy and stellar architecture.
You'll get in some beach time at Playa de La Barceloneta and Cala de l'Illa Roja. Get out of town with these interesting Barcelona side-trips: Aigua Xelida (in Tamariu), Cala Banys (in Lloret de Mar) and Far de Sant Sebastia (in Llafranc). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of El Barri Gòtic, admire the landmark architecture of Casa Batllo, visit Las Ramblas, and steep yourself in history at Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar.
